Nutritional needs of Children

Children or whole families will create a vegetarian diet for many different reasons. The youngest vegetarians will usually be part of a group or family that decided on eating vegetarian or vegan for health, cultural, or one of many different reasons. Older children can  become vegetarians or vegans over concern for animals, or the various effects on health. Deciding to change  to vegetarianism or veganism doesn’t necessarily mean that you magically know just what to eat. There are two common mistakes made by beginner vegetarian parents. One, parents worrying  about whether their kids are getting enough protein tend to overcompensate. They  feed their kids a diet  too high in calories  and/or saturated fat .The other mistake often made, is to take the meat completely out of the diet and not replace it with another pretein source.  A doctor or professional dietitian would be able to assist you to create a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet. It just has to be someone who fully understands all of the nutritional needs of children.
